Living Your Best Life On Purpose

Hello to all my readers!

First, I apologize for not updating the blog since Sunday like I promised. Since the new semester has started, I'm having a hard time trying to fit extra-curriculars into my plans. I'm busy with work and school and ministry so just pray that I get enough rest in the hours that I do find to sleep.

With that said, lets go into our lesson.

Our main text for this series will be located in the book of Daniel chapter 1
8But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king's meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.

This is King James Version, but as you all know, I will use other texts in my studies.

To understand where I'm going with this, I must first present you with an understanding of what was going on at the time that this was written. According to history, this was the time of a man named Antiochus. What we know of as Hitler and his Jewish genocide also occured in scripture. At this time, Nebuchadnezzar was trying to unite all the peoples in his lands with one religion- the religion of a false god that he would set up.

So we have the setting- God's people are being asked to assimilate to the culture to which they've been displaced. Remember, Daniel or Beltashazzar has been taken into Babylonian captivity.

That brings us to our text... He purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the king's meat.

More on this tomorrow.

The thought for today is this: We as Christians in this current world are being "asked" all the time to compromise on our standards and to defile ourselves with the things of this world. Are you as resolved as Daniel was not to allow yourself to fall the stratgey of Satan? If so, what active plans do you have to protect youself? What have you resolved not to do? If you have fallen, do you have the mindset to get out of the snare you're in?

Think about it.

Until next time,
The Minibishop

Hi Tony...
That's along the lines of what I was studying last night at home in my private bible study. I was studying about the separation of what is holy from what is profane. Nice words. Thanks,
Faith
